The Denon AVR-788 is a 7.1 surround a/v receiver with HDMI 1.3a inputs/outputs supporting HDMI audio support. This is the mid-range model of the new AVR-x88 series of Denon receivers priced at $549. All 7 audio channels have identical quality and power with 85 Watts (RMS) delivered to each.

This receiver has multi-zone support, with 2 zone multi-source capability and A-B front speaker amplified outputs. This receiver is very similar to the Denon AVR-1908 released in September 2007.

Up-conversion
The AVR-788 supports video up-conversion of S-Video and RCA video to the component video outputs, but does not up-convert to HDMI. All HDMI input signals pass through to the HDMI output. The OSD will output when using the HDMI output.
Availability
The Denon AVR-788 is now available and release in October 2007. It competes squarely with the popular Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver. It has a suggested retail price of $549 and is available large retail stores and online.
