Harman Kardon AVR 1600

$599.00 Released August, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Gloss over brushed metal design looks unique and attractive while still matching other equipment. Able to calibrate everything, enough fine tuning to satisfy audiophiles. Video processing provides a clear, properly contrasted picture.

The Cons:Output is rated at 35 watts per channel, rather than the 50 advertised. Can't ever turn off the bright light on the power button. HDMI pass-through doesn't actually send video, only audio, until you update the firmware.

The Harman Kardon AVR 1600 is a 7.1 channel A/V receiver that incorporates certain technology to improve sound and performance. A high-end model, the receiver is similar to the AVR 3600 model but focuses more on video than multimedia as a whole.
