Panasonic SA-XR70

$500.00 Released April, 2005

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Plenty of inputs for both digital and analog. Output is very clear and well defined, sounds like a unit worth twice what this costs. Slim profile design, takes up minimal room in the entertainment unit.

The Cons:Only the single HDMI input. Feels a little light, hard to tell how long it will last.

The Panasonic SA-XR70 is a 6.1 channel slim-design digital surround receiever offered by Panasonic. This receiver sits just over 3 inches high letting it fit into spaces too small for many other receivers.

Each of the 6 channels has 100 watts for plenty of output power. This is one of the first receivers to offer an HDMI input/output which can deliver images with true 1080p resolution. There are also 2 component video inputs and 4 composite/s-video inputs with component and composite outputs for plenty of connectivity options. It uses Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound and has decoders for Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, NEO:6, and DTS 96/24. There are several sound field control presets including various music settings, movie setting, game mode and mono.
