Shares the same amp internal circuitry as the lower end 819 and 919 - the 1018 includes the same circuitry as the higher end VSX-01TXH Elite series receivers. The Manual is very poor, and to date there is no user group or discussion of all the features. Pioneer should do a webinar and teach us how to fully use the system, Why is there so little info on a great system?
The Pioneer VSX-1019AH is a high-end A/V receiver that is also the top-of-the-line model in Pioneer's newly announced A/V receiver line. The VSX-1019AH is the successor to the popular Pioneer VSX-1018AH released in June 2008, and will likely feature similar features and specifications including upconversion of analog video to 1080p and decoding of Dolby TrueHD and dts HD MA.

Pioneer announced their most recent A/V receiver line (VSX-1019AH, VSX-919AH, VSX-819H, VSX-519V) at the 2009 CES event in Las Vegas. The VSX-1019AH's biggest new feature will include an iPod digital USB connection that will play the audio devices media files digitally (including DRM protected content) which has not been seen in any A/V unit released before. The Pioneer VSX-1019AH is set for an April, 2009 release date with an estimated MSRP of $500.
Pioneer's new line of A/V receivers is specifically designed to read the content directly off the iPod units and decode the audio using integrated digital-to-analog converters; meaning no more grainy analog sound like most music listeners are so used to. The VSX-1019AH will also feature full standard dvd upconversion to 1080p through the integrated Faroudja 1080p video scaler. The device also includes additional features such as 5 HDMI ports (4 in/ 1 out), 4 Digital Inputs (2 coax/ 2 optical), full color jacket graphics output support for the iPod media content, a glowing remote control, and 7 channel digital audio with support for 5.1 analog audio. Compared to the step-down VSX-919AH, the VSX-1019AH featuers an additional HDMI input, an additional digital audio input, and, most notably, a Faroudja 1080p upscaling video chipset.

Claimed 120W output is for only one channel driven. When driving two channels, output is 108W/ch - but when driving 5 channels, power output drops to <29W/ch into 8 ohms at 0.1% distortion according to Home Theater Mag bench test.

#pioneer_vsx_1019ah People are lambasting this product before anyone has even touched it. When has technological progress in electronics ever created a heavier larger new model with approximately the same specs? Oh no, the 1019 is going to weigh less, it must suck! Or more likely...because it's a considerably more efficient design, it doesn't need a gigantic power supply to continually feed it power that it is going to waste a significant portion of, and monstrous heat sinks. Wait until the reviews people, no one said the 918 sucked and that had the last iteration of the PHAT amps. I'm sure the PHAT II technology is going to improve on that already commendable performance. Or maybe Pioneer just has you guessing so that you all quickly gobble up the last of the 1018's in heated speculation and fear of a possible inferior product. I'm guessing you all got duped and will just drive the price of 1018's to ridiculous heights. After the initial great reviews for the 1019, you're all going to be flooding the market with 1018's in order to purchase the new latest and greatest.
