The Sony STR-DA2400ES is the entry model of the STR-DAx400ES series, "Elevated Standard" (ES), product line announced in a June 26, 2008 press release by Sony. The DA2400ES replaces the previous generation Sony STR-DA3300ES ($800) released the year before.

It "upconverts" digital signals to HDMI. It will not, however, "upscale" a, for example, 480i signal to 1080p.
